For many travelers, the airport is usually just a stopover to their actual destination. To bridge the gap, most people stroll around or sink into their own smartphones. The waiting time at Frankfurt Airport can be used so much better, so that the waiting time fades into the background and what you have experienced becomes a highlight itself. In part 1 of our blog issue, the various work and relaxation zones were revealed. We are now focusing primarily on activities in and around Frankfurt Airport.
If you want to get some fresh air first, you can do so both on the visitor terrace in Terminal 2 and on the “Open Air Deck”, the roof terrace of Terminal 1. You can also watch aircraft operations up close, but also enjoy the sun and relax on the numerous seating areas. In the colder months, it is recommended to use the smoking lounges. Smokers can make themselves comfortable in the comfortable armchairs and indulge their urges without disturbing non-smoking people in the area.
Once all needs have been met, young and old can get started at the airport:
1. Movie World
Free cinema feeling, even before departure? That's there! In the Movie World areas, multilingual and family-friendly (cinema) films, popular series and interesting documentaries are shown. In this way, even a short stay can be made entertaining and free of charge.

2nd Fraport Visitor Center
Frankfurt Airport is home to one of the best destinations in Hesse: the Fraport Visitor Center. In this multimedia and modern world of experiences, you can find various impressions of the hidden world of the airport. There are also applications with impressive augmented reality, simulated situations to participate in and lots of information about the Hessian airport. Another bonus: with the purchase of a ticket, some visitors can also collect miles.

3rd experience gate
An impressive backdrop with a wow effect awaits you in Terminal 1: visual highlights consisting of image and film sequences that represent the entire area of what is being shown. You can see landscapes, urban turmoil and everyday hustle and bustle of certain major cities such as Tokyo or New York. Definitely worth a look!

4th exhibition “Traces of Aviation”
Still not enough of the airport processes in the background? This exhibition can then be used to fill up on further knowledge about the historical and current events at the airport as well as aviation. There is also various information about the terminals, but also curious topics such as the baggage handling system or runway lighting.

5th Gaming World
Want something a bit more varied? The world of gaming makes the eyes of young and old shine. With this free gaming experience, every passenger gets their money's worth. The latest games can be tested here, but classics such as Tetris also invite you to have fun. Gaming World even offers movement-friendly dance games. Interactive games on monitor walls and controller-based video games invite you to interact with other visitors. A true win-win situation!

6. Boeing 737 flight simulator
Childhood dreams come true at Frankfurt Airport: In a Boing 737 aircraft simulator, anyone can be a pilot for a few happy hours. Provided that you are not taller than 1.95 meters and weigh a maximum of 100 kg. Under the guidance of an experienced commercial aircraft pilot, you can either take off from Frankfurt Airport or choose one of a thousand different international airports. With the help of the simulator, some people can also put an end to their fear of flying. With the “Kiddy Sim”, little guests also get a unique experience and can prove their skills.

7. Airport tours
What does a live-moderated tour of the airport grounds in an air-conditioned bus, packed with interesting facts sound like? You can see aircraft loads and refueling, of course the flying machines as well as take-offs and landings from close range. The tour guides are happy to answer any questions you may have, so you can finally find out everything you always wanted to know about flying.

8. Plan spotter points
Is that still not enough? Then we can recommend spotters to photography-savvy visitors for the perfect snapshot. Runway West and Runway North-West are suitable for the ideal close-up view. But the viewing platform of the airlift monument also offers a good view of airplanes of all sizes on approach. Whether to amaze or take pictures, aviation enthusiasts enjoy an incomparable eye-catcher.

This concludes our two-part series about the extraordinary activities that Frankfurt Airport has to offer. We hope you've learned something new and can try them out soon. Until then, we wish you an unforgettable stay in our Platzhirsch Living!
